The War
Sierra Leone faced serious spiritual and humanitarian crisis during and after the eleven years of civil war.
Lives, personal properties and social infrastructures were discriminately destroyed.
Prolonged deprivations in access to adequate food, health, safe water and sanitation facilities especially in the villages are poor and are grossly inadequate for the settled populations.
Women and children were the suffering masses and greatly affect their physical and psycho-social lives in Sierra Leone.
Today, the situation is characterised by declining government services, chronic poverty, basic education, and socio-economic facilities. The present age population needs opportunities and the church is the answer.
WOFDA therefore is established to address and to meet the need of the poor ecumenically.
